We publish
what we pay.

Nobody else around here does.

Most roofing companies will not tell you the pay range until the second interview, will not explain how the commission is calculated, and will not say out loud who gets the good leads. Every one of those numbers is on this page. Read it before you talk to us — then decide whether we are worth the conversation.

01 — What we pay

The pay table
we are not
supposed to print

Ranges are real, current and reviewed twice a year against the Austin market. Where a role earns commission, the formula is written out below the table — not described vaguely as "uncapped earning potential." If you can do the math on your own paycheck before you accept the job, we have done this right.

Placeholder

Every figure on this page is an illustrative placeholder for design review and must be confirmed by Sprout ownership before this page goes live. The structure of the disclosure — base, formula, on-target total, when it pays — is the part we are recommending you keep.

How commission is calculated Gross profit, not revenue

Your percentage comes off contract price − job cost. Job cost is materials, labor, dumpster, permit and warranty reserve — a fixed published list. Overhead is not deducted from your number, and neither is anything discretionary.

When it pays The month the job funds

Commission is earned at signature and paid on the next pay cycle after the job funds. There is no clawback if a homeowner later refinances, sells, or a claim is re-scoped through no fault of yours.

How leads are assigned Rotation, not favoritism

Inbound leads go into a published round-robin by territory. The board is visible to the whole sales team — you can see whose turn it is and what everyone was assigned. New hires are in the rotation from week one.

02 — The contrast

How the industry
does it. And how
we do it.

We have sat in the same rooms, at the same trade shows, listening to the same operators explain how they run a roofing company. A lot of what gets described as "just how this business works" is a choice. These are the choices we made differently. No company is named here, and none needs to be — anyone who has worked a season in this trade will recognize the left column.

The practiceHow the industry usually does itHow Sprout does it
Pay transparency
Range withheld until the offer. "Uncapped commission" quoted instead of a number, because the number is not good.
Published on a public page before you ever apply. You negotiate from the same sheet we do.
Lead assignment
Best leads quietly routed to the owner's favorites or whoever closed loudest last month. New reps get the scraps and quit in five months.
Published round-robin by territory, visible to the whole team. New hires are in the rotation from week one.
Commission clawbacks
Commission reversed months later for cancellations, re-scopes, or margin "corrections" you had no control over.
Earned at signature, paid when the job funds. No clawback for anything outside your control.
1099 vs W-2
Field staff classified as 1099 so the company avoids payroll tax, workers' comp and any obligation to you.
W-2 employees with workers' comp, payroll tax and unemployment insurance carried by us. Subs are used for overflow, not to dodge classification.
Training
"Shadow someone for a day." Certifications are your problem, on your weekend, at your expense.
Structured 90-day onboarding, IKO RoofPro certification paid for, OSHA 30 and manufacturer training on the clock.
Tools & equipment
Nail guns, harnesses and fall protection deducted from your first checks. You finance the company's equipment.
Tools, harness, PPE and branded gear issued at no cost, replaced when worn. Nothing is deducted from a paycheck, ever.
Insurance claim ethics
Reps coached to talk homeowners into filing on marginal damage, and to "find" damage that would not survive an adjuster's scrutiny.
We document what is there. If a roof does not have a claimable loss we say so and walk — and we will tell the homeowner what it would actually cost to repair out of pocket.
Storm chasing
Crews follow hail across three states, staff up for a season, disappear before the workmanship warranty is ever tested.
One office, 10 years, on South Lamar. We are still here when the warranty is called — that is the entire business model.
Turnover
Hire twenty, keep three, call it a numbers game. Quality is whatever survives the churn.
We hire slowly and promote from within. 78% of our leads and managers started on a crew.
Schedule & heat
Work until the job is done, in August, at 2pm, because the schedule was sold too tight.
Summer starts at 6:00am with a hard afternoon heat cut-off. Water, electrolytes and shade are jobsite requirements, not perks.

03 — Open roles

Who we are
hiring right now

Every listing carries its range, its structure and its actual requirements — not a wish list of fifteen things designed to filter out anyone who would negotiate. If you meet most of it, apply.

What you will do

  • Work storm-hit neighborhoods, introduce Sprout, and book roof inspections for the sales team
  • Qualify homeowners — insurance status, roof age, signs of damage — before you set the appointment
  • Log every door and outcome so the team can follow up
  • Represent the brand at the door: professional, honest, and never pushy

What we need

  • Comfortable talking to strangers and hearing "no" a lot
  • Reliable transport and a phone
  • No experience required — we train you on the pitch, the product and the objections
  • Hungry to move up into a full sales seat

What you get

Paid training, uncapped appointment bonuses, and the fastest path we offer into a Sales Representative seat — most of our reps started right here.

What you will do

  • Own 8–14 concurrent residential and commercial jobs end to end
  • Material ordering, crew scheduling, permits, inspections and final invoicing
  • Manage supplement submissions and adjuster coordination on claim work
  • Hold the margin — you are paid on the gross profit you protect

What we need

  • 3+ years managing construction or roofing projects
  • Fluent in scopes, Xactimate output and supplement logic
  • Organised enough that nothing needs to be chased twice
  • Field-comfortable — this is not a desk-only role

What you get

2% of gross profit on every job you close inside budget, paid monthly with no deferral. Company laptop, phone and vehicle allowance.

What you will do

  • Inspect roofs, document condition honestly and build the estimate
  • Walk homeowners through what is actually wrong and what it will cost
  • Assemble supplement packets that survive an adjuster's review
  • Tell a homeowner when they do not have a claim — and mean it

What we need

  • Roofing, insurance or construction sales background preferred, not required
  • Willing to get on a roof; ladder and harness training provided
  • Zero tolerance for manufactured damage or pressure closing
  • Valid driver's license and clean record

What you get

A real $48k base — not a recoverable draw. 8–12% of gross profit, tiered by volume. Company leads at the same rate as self-generated for your first year, so your ramp is not a punishment.

What you will do

  • Schedule inspections and installs across multiple crews
  • Pull permits and coordinate municipal inspections across Travis, Hays and Williamson
  • Assemble and track insurance supplement packets
  • Be the voice homeowners actually reach when they call

What we need

  • 2+ years in a scheduling, dispatch, claims or construction-admin role
  • Precise with paperwork — supplements live or die on detail
  • Calm on the phone with a homeowner who has water coming in
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a meaningful advantage

What you get

The same quarterly company performance bonus percentage that the field gets. Predictable hours, real office, no on-call rotation.

04 — Onboarding

Your first
90 days,
written down

You should know what the first three months look like before you resign from anywhere. Here is the actual plan — including the review points, and including what happens if it is not working out on either side.

Days 01 — 07

Orientation & safety

  • Paperwork, benefits enrollment and your first paycheck date confirmed in writing
  • Fall protection, ladder and heat-safety training before you set foot on a roof
  • Tools, harness, PPE and branded gear issued — nothing deducted
  • Meet every crew lead and the office team by name
Days 08 — 30

Shadow & do

  • Paired with an assigned mentor — a named person, not "whoever is free"
  • Canvassers: knock alongside a mentor, then run your own streets
  • Sales reps: ride-alongs, then your own inspections with a second set of eyes
  • End-of-week check-in with your lead, every week
Days 31 — 60

Own the work

  • Running your own scope, jobs or accounts with mentor backup on call
  • IKO RoofPro certification modules begin, on the clock
  • Commissioned roles enter the full lead rotation at standard rate
  • Day 45 formal review: pay, fit and trajectory, both directions
Days 61 — 90

Full rate & review

  • Day 90 review with a written comp decision — no drifting past it
  • Benefits fully active; PTO accrual retroactive to your start date
  • Your 12-month development plan agreed and documented
  • If it is not working, we say so directly at day 45, not silently at day 89

06 — Partnerships

Refer us once.
Then judge us
on that job.

The people who send us work — adjusters, agents, property managers, realtors, GCs and suppliers — are staking their own reputation on us. We treat that as the highest-stakes work we do. Send us one property, watch how it is handled, and decide from there. No exclusivity, no volume commitment, no contract.

P/01

Insurance Adjusters

You get scopes that are documented, photographed per slope and defensible — supplements supported by evidence rather than volume. If a loss is not there, we will tell you before you drive out.

P/02

Insurance Agents

Your policyholders get an honest inspection and a straight answer about whether filing is in their interest. Fewer marginal claims on your book, better retention when a real one lands.

P/03

Property Managers

Priority scheduling across a portfolio, one point of contact, standing maintenance inspections and consolidated reporting per property. Multi-property pricing available.

P/04

Realtors

Fast pre-listing and option-period roof certifications, usually inside 48 hours, with a written report you can hand to either side of the table without it blowing up a deal.

P/05

General Contractors

Roofing and dry-in scheduled to your build calendar, licensed and insured, with certificates on file before we mobilise. We hit the date or we tell you early enough to matter.

P/06

Suppliers & Manufacturers

IKO RoofPro certified, consistent volume, invoices paid on terms. We are interested in relationships that survive a slow quarter.

Referral program

$500 Per referred job that completes
No cap · No exclusivity · Paid in 30 days

Simple, published,

The referral program roofing companies advertise and then bury in conditions. Ours is four sentences long, and here they are.

  1. Send us the homeowner's name and address, or have them mention you when they call.
  2. We inspect, quote and — if it is right for them — do the work.
  3. The job completes and funds.
  4. You are paid $500 within 30 days. Every referral, every time, no annual cap.
